Most overnight stays in a Merzouga desert camp include the night in a tent, dinner and breakfast, and a way of reaching the camp - by camel, by 4x4, or a mix of both. Many camps also offer music around the fire in the evening. Exactly what is included depends on the camp you choose, so every camp listing shows its inclusions, and we confirm them in writing before you book.

It depends mainly on the camp category (authentic, comfort or luxury), whether you want a private bathroom, how you reach the camp, the season and the size of your group. In many Merzouga camps a camel ride to the camp is part of the package, but not always - some guests prefer to arrive by 4x4, and some camps include both options. Each camp page shows whether camel trekking is included, and you can tick it as a must-have in the camp finder.

It depends on the camp. Luxury camps usually have a private bathroom inside each tent, comfort camps vary, and authentic camps more often use shared facilities. If a private bathroom matters to you, choose it in the camp finder or mention it in your request and we will only suggest camps that have one.

Yes. Many travellers drive to Merzouga in a rental car. You drive to an agreed meeting point on the edge of the dunes and continue to the camp by camel or 4x4. We send the exact meeting point after booking. See how to get to Merzouga for routes.

Your car stays at the meeting point in Merzouga while you are in the desert - normal cars cannot drive into the dunes. We give you the exact parking location when we confirm your booking.

The sunset camel trek is timed so that you reach the dunes before the sun goes down, so the start time changes through the year - earlier in winter, later in summer. We confirm the exact meeting time for your date when we confirm your booking.

Children often ride with their family, but whether a child can ride depends on their age and size and on the camp. Tell us the ages of the children when you send your request and we will tell you what is possible, including a 4x4 alternative. Read more on our page about desert camps for families.

A small overnight bag is easier than a large suitcase, especially if you ride a camel. Bring a warm layer (desert nights are cold for much of the year), a scarf or headscarf against sun and sand, sunglasses, sun cream, closed shoes or sandals you can walk in on sand, a torch or phone light, and any medication you need. Cash is useful for extras and tips.

Yes. One night is the most common stay: you arrive in the late afternoon, watch the sunset over the dunes, spend the night at the camp and leave after sunrise and breakfast. If you have more time, ask us about staying two nights.

Often yes, but availability depends on the camp and the season, and popular dates fill up. The fastest way to check is a message on WhatsApp with your date and number of guests. We will only confirm your booking once the camp has confirmed availability.

Authentic camps focus on a simple, traditional Sahara night at a lower price. Comfort camps add better beds, more privacy and better facilities.
